Wifi with external dongle

i have installed an external dongle as per instructions in the manual. everything working.

however the gui through the rs.local browser reports ‘conect to wifi’ as ticked and i have a feeling it should not be right? as its through the dongle i was expecting it to not be ticked. i think the web interface wifi setting is to do with the internal pi’s wifi - if i understand corectly.
under this it has the corect ssid and also gives me a dns server in bold type.
and doesnt have anything in the network password section.

should i remove the tick for this in the shakes browser gui front end?
did i miss a step or make a mistake?
my station appears to be online and reporting to shakenet.

should i check the conections via ssh again.

my friend also seems to think it is not reporting its data corectly - although i can see it in the app and online via station view etc…
many thanks

Hello Wilson, welcome back to the community.

Could I please ask you to download the logs from the Shake (instructions can be found here, if needed: Please read before posting!) and post them in your reply?

They will help us look a bit deeper into your Shake configuration.

Thank you!

Ok, so I think it was simple: I had gone through the steps to enable the onboard WiFi as well as the dongle… at least … I didn’t do that this time and all is well now.

Hello Wilson,

Thank you for the logs. And yes, I could see that the onboard WiFi was enabled and that’s the reason why the tick was there, as you surmised.
