I was looking for R/S stations located in Russia and China and noticed that there are only 3 or 4 in coastal China and none in Russia. Just curious, why this part of the world is so empty of RS devices?
Hello mrlentini, and welcome back to the community!
We had more stations in China before the pandemic, if memory serves well. Their owners must have decided to disconnect them for some reason (maybe keeping the data private for some research project), or maybe they are moving across the country.
There are probably similar reasons for Russia or other countries where the Shake “population” is (yet) low or absent.
We hope more and more people all over the world will start to install Raspberry Shakes! More coverage means more data, and more data means who knows how many discoveries that lie just ahead of us.
From what I’ve been told by some people (I can’t remember who precisely, and therefore cannot confirm) the Chinese Police started seizing some RaspberryShake devices and therefore some owners decided to disable the data share towards RS Server and use them locally only to avoid breaking the Chinese Law which I’ve been told states it’s illegal to publicly share the data of stations like this.
It’s not the first time this question is asked here Is Raspberry Shake still available in China? - Technical Support - Raspberry Shake which as well mentioned that he’ve been told that it was illegal to public stations like this in China.
