Locate geophone remote from Raspberry Pi?

I’m interested in acquiring a Shake to monitor a telescope pier. Is it possible to secure the geophone to the top of the pier and add extension wires (maybe 7-8ft in length) to connect geophone to the board on the Pi located at the base of the pier?

Hello Gene, welcome to the community!

This is a very cool application, but unfortunately no, the geophone cannot be more than 10-20 cm away from the board.

This is because, if the geophone is further away than that small distance, the cable starts to act like a normal antenna, and it will start to pick up all kinds of trash signals that will completely swamp out the seismic signal.
