Hi, so… I am considering maybe placing my indoor shake on the outdoor on the vault, and I’m wondering multiple questions, can I convert my shake to an outdoor model? Or can I just place the indoor shake on a vault?
The outdoor model is more “aspirational” in it’s weatherproofness. For power it’s the indoor raspberry wall wart, with the indoor cable but a waterproof connector that plugs into the shake itself. It’s the same for the cat 5. Instead of a waterproof cat5 connector or housing (like many POE cameras use) it’s a cat5 cable with a normal indoor connector on one side and a waterproof one on the other side. Same thing for the USB cable. All cables are very short in length (maybe a meter, I didn’t measure). I think an inside unit placed in a large pelican case would be the same or better than the outside version. If you use an indoor version you can run cables through glands and then add the connectors in the case. For the outdoor version I do like the 3 leg metal bottom frame. For reference I own both an indoor and outdoor unit.
