Voltage range of the digitizer

Hi everybody,

I have 2 RS3D units. In the tech specs I read that they feature 24-bit ADC, i.e., theoretical 144dB dynamic range. Estimated sensitivity is 3.60e8 counts/(m/s) and (theoretical) clip level is +/- 8,388,608 counts [(2^24)/2]. This yields an estimated clip level of +/- 23.3 mm/s.

First of all, it seems to me that the clip level of 24 mm/s peak-to-peak reported in the specs is wrong. Shouldn’t it be 48 mm/s (better 47 mm/s) peak-to-peak?

Second, it is possible to know the voltage range set for the analog-to-digital conversion?

Thanks very much for your help
Diego

Hello Diego,

Firstly, thank you for your always great feedback! You are right about the peak-to-peak value as the correct one is indeed 47mm/s.

Regarding your second query, we do not publish the voltage range set for the ADC we use in our instruments.

Thank you for your continued support!
