Tornadoes and infrasound

I live in NH so I never thought of looking for tornadoes, but they must produce some great infrasound. The short suggests they the frequency may correlate with funnel diameter.

Given all the other neat infrasound my RSB records, I may have to start looking for tornado tracks within 20 miles or so of stations or look at tornadoes that brushed by population centers where there might be a nearby RSB.

I see there’s a RSB, R6C88, which might be at the Storm Prediction Center, 120 David L. Boren Blvd, Norman, OK. I recall there was a tornado there a while ago, I’ll look into that later. That station has been offline since last evening.

Quite interesting indeed!

I remember some storm chasers (Timmer jumps to mind) who have conducted studies regarding tornadoes and infrasound, so yes, you could discover something in your (or other) Shake(s).

That specific station still seems offline, but there are many over the Tornado and Dixie Alleys that could potentially be used for research.
