Station offline in ShakeNet

Hello,

I’ve been having some trouble getting my Shake 3D connected back to shake net after a reboot. It’s functioning properly for me, on my computer, but it won’t show up in ShakeNet.

Please see attached log files.

Thanks!

Hello Muskellunge, and welcome to the community!

Thank you very much for the logs from your Shake. From them, it appears that the instrument cannot find an internet connection right during the booting process, with these lines highlighting the issue:

2024 232 18:31:31: Network detection failed, unable to curl or ping common sites
2024 232 18:31:31: No internet connection found
2024 232 18:31:32: Network detection failed, unable to curl or ping common sites

Could I please ask you to:

  • shut down both the Shake and your modem/router
  • disconnect the Shake power and LAN cables
  • start the modem/router again and wait for it to regain internet connection
  • reconnect the Shake power and LAN cables (try the LAN cable to a different port on the modem/router, or, if you have it, a different LAN cable that you know is working)
  • turn the Shake on again
  • wait for two/three hours, download the new logs and send them here?

I would like to have freshly started Shake logs to compare with those you sent me.

Thank you!

Thank you! Here are the updated log files after following your instructions.

hello,

there are error messages in both the myshake.out file and odf_SL_plugin.info file indicating that there is still no NTP server available. and when this is the case, a connection to the server is not possible.

from the odf_SL_plugin.info file:

2024 237 18:45:07>>	NTP timing is not available, so an accurate data timestamp is also not possible.
2024 237 18:45:07>>	Data will be streamed locally only using HOST Computer's clock time!
2024 237 18:45:07>>	If Data-Sharing is desired, NTP *must* be available before this can happen!

you should determine why connecting to the internet seems to be not possible. one thing to check is your DNS server configuration and confirm the server that is specified is indeed providing DNS services.

cheers,
richard

Alright, I gave the DNS settings a look and fixed some things up. Looks like something went awry when I was trying to set up a static IP for the unit. Should be up and running now!

hi there,

good to hear. and apologies for the problem, there is a known bug when setting a fixed IP which has been addressed and will be available in the next update to the front-end configuration interface.

glad to see you’re back online, thanks for persevering through to the solution.

cheers,
richard
