Sound Identification: Frost Quakes?

So, lately, I’ve been “looking” for frost quakes. We’ve had several brutally cold days here in Western Kentucky (US). lowest was around +5F. One of our local meteorologists said we could experience frost quakes in the region. A perfect fodder for my RBOOM. Just not sure what to look for.

There are two rock quarries nearby. Several times since my RBOOM has been online I’ve been out walking the dog when I heard a faraway explosion or boom. I can only assume, without verifiable data from the quarries themselves, I may have caught some of their blasts. Today, again out walking, I heard another sound. This wasn’t thunderous, muffled, or far off like the aforementioned blasts I’ve heard. It was sharper and seemed closer. I immediately opened up the Shake app and saw it in real time. Below are attached screenshots of the data view of the event, centered on about 17:22:00UTC, although what I think I “heard” was the higher peak at about 17:22:30ish.

Is there anyone here who might be able to go into my data view of station S1C88, 01/23/2025 @17:22UTC, and give me any idea what might have left this signature? I didn’t find anything here for “frost quakes”, and not sure if any fingerprint for these even exists.

Just wondering if I was lucky enough to hear and record a frost quake.

That would be quite interesting!

I cannot confirm or deny that was a frost quake (not enough personal experience on those), so I’ll leave the field open to anyone else who may have the knowledge to do so.

Nonetheless, a fascinating phenomenon, this one!
