Setting data retention limit .. a small bug?

Possibly another newbie question … when I increase the default 7-day data retention setting for my RS, it accepts and saves the value ok (it runs on a 64GB high endurance SD card), but when I later reconnect and go to the settings page, it shows the default 7 days again. Is this just a small bug, or is the retention time actually being reset? Is there a config file I can check to see what the actual value is ?

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Thank you very much for the report! I asked our software manager to check and recreate the issue so we can see where we stand and what we can do to address it.

I’ll update you as soon as I have news.

Thanks for that !

One bit of information that may or may not matter … I reproduced the error on both Firefox and Brave (Brave is my default browser). Ran the tests on two different Macs, running macOS Tahoe/26 and on Ubuntu 24.04, just to make sure.

All other settings retain any changes I make.
73!

All further troubleshooting/feedback is always welcome.

Different browser behavior has happened in the past, so it’s always worth taking a look.

EDIT: our team has identified the issue and is working to find a solution. I’ll update again as soon as I have news.

Thank you again!

That is good news, and my best regards to the software team !

Thanks and 73. Chuck

Hello va7ul,

I’m happy to announce that, with the release of Shake OS v0.21.2, this bug has been fixed!

You are now able to modify the data retention limit to suit your purposes (and microSD card size) as before.

Thank you again for notifying us about this.

Many thanks to you and the software team! A quick reboot and the RS was auto-updated. The fix works well and holds across reboots. I have it running on a 64GByte high-endurance uSD, and have it set to 30 days to see how much will be used.

Cheers! VA7UL
