Hi Graham, it depends on the site. Many Shakes are fairly close to residential power, and most of those are powered via 110 or 220V AC. Many are on UPS backup.
There are a smaller (but growing) number of Shakes in the world at truly remote sites, powered using solar arrays—see here and here for a couple of examples.
