RS offline despite LAN connection

Hello, my router lost power temporarily due to a power trip, and my RS has been offline since. The router is now working well but the RS isn’t online on Fing despite the LAN cable.

I switched off the device and disconnected LAN in an attempt to restart and it’s still offline. Anyone to help me troubleshoot?

Hello Starsigns, and welcome to our community!

Could I please ask you to reboot the Shake again and, while the instrument is starting up, check if the external LEDs are behaving as described here?

If not, where do they differ?

Also, if you haven’t already, can you try the following?

  • Power off the Shake, then change the port where the cable is connected to your Router
  • For the sake of completion, change the LAN cable with another one that you are sure is working

As last test, can you:

  • turn off your Shake
  • disconnect all cables from it
  • restart your router and wait for it to regain internet connection
  • now reconnect LAN and power cable to the Shake in this order
  • turn on the Shake again

Does the Shake now connect? Or is it still invisible to the router admin page and Fing?

Thank you for your collaboration.

Can I check how do I reboot the Shake other than to pull the power supply?

Hello again Starsigns,

As your situation is, the only way to shut it down is to directly “pull the plug”. It’s not something that we recommend, but as we are in a “last resort” situation, it’s the only way to do so.

If you want to avoid that, you can try directly connecting the Shake to your computer, and if it sees it, you can shutdown it from there. You’ll have to adjust your computer’s IP address to do so, and you can find more here.

Okay, I have a spare router that I’m using and it seems to bypass the issue. My Shake is back online. Thanks for helping!
