Dataview Filters Not Working

I just tried to apply a 0.5 to 10 Hz bandpass filter to the waveform in data view, and it is not working.

When I select a section of the helicorder to view in detail, I can enter the parameters for the filter, but when I click “Apply” an orange "Self label appears in the top LFS and the filter icon goes solid blue, but the filter pop up remains in place and the filter is not applied.

Also I noticed that the filter option on the helicorder does not allow the filter to be changed from “no filter”.

Tried again this morning, Dataview appears to be down entirely.

Been working all day for me.
However, it does appear that there is some work happening around filters.
When I click on the filter symbol, I now get this:

Can’t do anything with it …

Still a completely blank page for me now. StationView is OK, but DataView has gone AWOL for me.

Just tried again, with two different browsers. Both work… (for me).
You might want to see what traceroute gives for you:

OK I tried Tracert (windows):

OK, I think I’ve found the problem, or should I say A problem - probably not the original problem with the filters…

I have been using Firefox, and last night I set both channels (EHZ and HDF) for my RS&B as favourites in Dataview. Since logging out and back in again, Dataview just goes to a blank screen.

Just now I fired up Chrome and navigated direct to dataview.raspberryshake.org no problems. So then I went to the Shakenet page and logged in, and from there went back to Dataview. All good so far.

So I noticed my RS&B channels were NOT marked as favourites. This seemed a little odd as I’d set that up last night. I selected then as favourites again, and all works OK until I leave dataview.

Opening Dataview again, then just gives me a blank screen.

I would’ve thought the Favourites on that page were stored on the website and not in the browser, or is that done with cookies?

Al.

OK, I deleted the cookies, etc in Chrome and the Dataview page came back.

FYI the filters still don’t work in Chrome.

I’ll delete the cookies in Firefox and that should fix the Dataview page problem at least.

Al.

Deleted cookies, and Dataview page is not working again in Firefox as well.

So this thread has become about 2 problems:

Filters not working in dataview; and

Favourites cookie causing Dataview page not to display.

Hello sheeny,

thank you for pointing this out, it is a definitely unwanted behaviour. Could I ask you for the versions of the browsers (Firefox, Chrome, others) that you have used?

I have tried to replicate the issue, but I want to be sure that we are using the same version for this test, otherwise other factors could come into play.

Thank you.

Firefox is 102.0 (64 bit) on windows 10.

Chrome is Version 102.0.5005.115 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hello sheeny,

Thank you. I was able to do some additional testing with the issue you are reporting and this is what I was able to find.

Chrome: Version 103.0.5060.66 (Official Build) (64-bit): no issues reported. After adding channels/stations to favorites DataView page always came back in full, and no empty page was shown.

So, I advise you to update your browser to this latest version, and hopefully, it will solve the problem.

Firefox 102.0 (64-bit): here, instead, the problem did indeed appear as you have described it. I have opened a ticket for our team so that they will be able to check and fix this bug.

Thank you again for the report.

Thanks Stormchaser. Chrome is already updated. When I checked the version the other day I saw it was in the process of updating so quickly copied the version before it changed.

As you can guess I normally use Firefox though.

I don’t know if this is related, but suspect it is.

The amplification tools on the helicorder in data view are also not working with Firefox or with the latest update of Chrome.

Like the filters, they used to work OK.

Hello sheeny,

Thanks for the additional feedback.

In this case, however, I have found no issue with the amplification tools in the helicorder, and its functionalities are working for me in both browsers. Can I advise, if you haven’t already tried, to delete all storage files and cookies, close and reopen the browser, and try again?

Thank you.

G’Day Stormchaser,

I just checked again without changing anything and both the filters and the amplification controls are all working again. Still using Firefox as before.

Oh well… ;o)

Good day (well, good afternoon/evening now I assume) to you too!

The important thing is that everything is working fine again, sometimes these kinds of glitches happen, but it was good that we know about them thanks to your reports.
