Hi, am new to the forum. I recently set up a shake 1d (R623F) and it seems to be working quite well. I have a problem with the station location. I accidentally selected the wrong location on initial config, it is off by about 30 miles. This is not the slight offset that the system applies. When I go to config and select the correct location the longitude changes on the config screen. I then hit save and reboot. It asks for my password and the attempts to reboot but hangs and never completes. I have tried rebooting manually but that doesn’t work. I was originally on V .16 and the system has updated to V .18 but the problem is still there. Any idea how to resolve this?
can you please send your log files along for review? they can be downloaded from the Home page of the config screen. and to be clear: the reboot button in ACTIONS::ACTIONS
does not work when on version 0.18?
thanks,
richard
Richard, I selected the location on the map and the used the save and reboot at the bottom of the config page. That hung on “Attempting Reboot”. If I get out of that and use Action the Reboot, the shake does reboot but it doesn’t save the new location. I tried to upload the logs by dragging the log to the create topic button but I guess it didn’t take I will upload again.

rather than dragging, i think the forum interface wants you to use the upload button, and then select the zip file that was downloaded from the FE-config Home page…
this is the icon that looks like this:
would you mind trying again using this method?
richard
I tried the upload button but it reacts the same way. It shows the upload message and a percentage but goes away before completing.
strange, that must be annoying…
can you send it directly to support@raspberryshake.org?
thanks,
richard
Thanks for the logs Bill, we’ve found the problem and are working on figuring out why it is happening.
In the meantime while we work on this, there is a sure fix you can do if you are comfortable enough to do it. That fix is re-imaging your SD card with a new copy of our software, which is available here:
Thanks Ian, I will re-image and see if that resolves the issue. I will post here and let you know what happens.
I flashed an image of V.18 to a new SD card. I went through the new config and now everything is working correctly.
A question related to this conversation for issues with the location. Is the lat/lon information saved somewhere in the Pi filesystem? Ie, if I ssh into the PI, is there a config file or setup file somewhere where I can edit the lat/lon, elevation, floors, etc, not using the web interface? And then rebooting after editing this file would update things appropriately?
Hello gscShake,
We don’t allow editing of the core files to prevent any kind of error that could cause the OS to crash.
Is there a particular reason for you to want to edit the lat/lon from the config file instead of from the interface in rs.local?
Are you experiencing problems with the interface itself?
Essentially, I am soon going to be looking into putting together a proposal to deploy a large number of them, and it would be easier to do bulk setup of the devices by ssh than by logging into the web interface. Just exploring what those options would be.
I’m not experiencing any issues, there is nothing to worry about there
Andrew
It’s good to know that everything works fine, it’s always great news!
I understand your problem and it is indeed an interesting one. We will be looking into it and one of our team will contact you directly in the future to discuss about this.
Thank you for bringing this potential improvement to our systems to our attention!
