So I am able to see a live view of my Shake (flyingmoose.com) but the app doesn’t show the live data or the data for an event that just happened. Is there a setting for where it streams to? I don’t think I changed anything, and it has been working poorly; specifically the live view in the app always stops after a small amount of time (seconds to minutes), and now doesn’t work at all. The embedded view on my website will run for hours without stopping.
Hello FlyingMoose,
I tried to replicate this using the latest Chrome browser version in both incognito and normal mode (not embedding), but your Shake continued to stream without issues in the last couple of hours.
Could you tell me if the browser you used was different so I can do some more tests?
Regarding the Mobile App, I can confirm that there is an issue regarding live streaming data, so I’ve opened a ticket for our team, and they’ll with get to it as soon as possible.
Thank you for the feedback!
Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I am able to stream in the web browser, but the app is where it’s not working.
I included the website to prove that the actual data is getting through.
I like to open the app as soon as I feel an earthquake to see what it looks like and how it’s tapering off, but the last several times I did this during an actual earthquake (the Cebu one last week, an even bigger one today, plus some of the aftershocks) it didn’t load. Does the system get overloaded during an earthquake? It seems to work (mostly) when there’s not an earthquake.
It’s frustrating to sit there and see it doing nothing, and have to switch to a browser, type in the web address as fast as I can, only to have it reload whatever site I was already on, have to open a new tab and go to the website, which loads pretty slowly.
Also, there is a problem I have with the website streaming, which if I switch to another tab and back, it stops loading and just starts scrolling white across. This only happens on a phone (iPhone in my case), and I suspect that the tab is getting paused and that somehow breaks the stream. Reloading restarts it though. But this may not be something you can do anything about.
Here is a screen capture of what it does (tapping the connection timeout button makes it go away for a while and then come back).
I’m not switching to other apps or anything, so it’s not getting paused.
Thank you for the additional details about the issue. The Mobile App screenshot that you posted is exactly what I can see from my side, and our team is now aware of the bug.
I get the frustration when something is not working as intended, but rest assured that we’ll get it back up and running as it was before.
Thank you for your understanding while we address this issue.
Had another earthquake last night, and it loaded up right away.
We sure are having a lot of earthquakes lately. That’s 3 big ones in about a week, and maybe a dozen more that were strong enough to feel.
Yes, the team also reported the same (I was about to write an update when I saw your message).
Having two distinct swarms (one under NE Cebu and the other off the coast to the SE) surely doesn’t help, I’m sure.
Let’s hope the sequence calms soon, so that there will be less and less “felt” events going forward.
Thanks for your reply.
Currently, the EH channel is working but none of the EN channels are working.
No trouble at all, and thank you for the additional notification.
Everything should be back to normal now.
