RDB03 banned

Dear stormchaser,

We have the RS1D RDB03 at a secondary school near Barcelona, the last few days it had some transmission problems during the nights until it was supposedly blocked/banned from the system yesterday at approximately 10:45 UTC. We asked the teachers to check the connection and moved it to a new location, but it is still blocked. I asked them for the log files but sometimes it’s not easy to get them…

Could you check if it is still banned?

Hello Mario, welcome back to the community!

We have now implemented an automated method to fix these issues concerning the handling of badly behaving connections:

  1. on multiple read errors, the offending IP address is automatically banned for 24 hours
  2. after which time, the IP is automatically unbanned

Thus, if, when the Shake comes back online after the initial 24h ban, the network has returned to normal conditions, you will see the instrument appear again on our services. Otherwise, it will again, immediately, be banned for another 24 hours if connectivity issues are still present.

If/when you get the logs, as usual, they would surely provide more insight on what is possibly going on.

Good morning, thank you very much for your fast answer, let’s see if it appears again or not, I asked for the system logs again, I suppose we will have them throughout the morning.

Best Regards

Hello Mario,

Thank you for the logs. And yes, there are multiple connection issues from them, so those were the causes the station was banned in the first place.

It’s great to hear that the connection has gone back to normal! Have a great weekend too!
