New Shake Not Working

I set up a new device yesterday in a college building and expected to see it online today, but the Shake has not been added to the network and is no longer collecting data. The unit information is in the screenshot. When first started up yesterday the Shake was a data producer, but now it is not.

Thank you

Hello draisanen, and welcome to our community!

Thank you for the screenshot and the logs. Could I ask you to try the following test?

  • turn off your Shake
  • disconnect all cables from it
  • restart your router (if possible) and wait for it to regain internet connection
  • now reconnect LAN and power cable to the Shake in this order, then connect the LAN cable to the router to a different port
  • turn on the Shake again

Then wait about an hour, download the new logs and send them to me. I would like to compare the new log set with the one you sent.

Thank you.

Thank you! It is a lot more “on” now than before

Here is the new hour of data:

Hello again, and thank you for the new screenshot + logs.

The two sets confirm the following:

  • the Shake starts without issues, going through all the steps
  • however, it doesn’t find a connection to our server, nor the time synchronization service

This is why it still displays Not Connected. You can, however, fix this by contacting the network administrator of your college and asking this person to open the following ports:

  • 55555 and 55556 to communicate to our data server
  • 123 to communicate with the time servers

Sometimes it’s also required to add the Shake IP and MAC addresses to the exceptions of your local firewall, as colleges/offices usually have a higher degree of security compared to standard household systems.

Once that has been done, you can reboot the Shake, and it should now connect without issues.
