Hi team, I’m looking to find a solution for data collection on faulty Elevator. Im looking to be able to record sudden drops and / or Stops with date and time stamps. Would a raspberry shake be able to do this?

this is an interesting use-case we’ve not come across before…
the technical answer is “yes”, the Shake instrument would record these events, including the time-stamps you are looking for. but this isn’t really the issue. rather, where would you locate the Shake? inside the elevator itself would seem to be out of the question, leaving outside as the only other option. but even then, it’s not obvious where exactly you would put it.
if you are serious about this, you will first need to investigate what type of long-term solution is possible in terms of the Shake’s placement.
where can the Shake be placed so that:
- it picks up all events of interest, regardless the floor the elevator is currently located on
- it is in a location where it will not be disturbed by random passers-by
- it has a stable power-source, and access to the internet (optional)
