Data Gaps in Helicorder

Hello! I am seeing many data gaps in the helicorder on my R4. Doesn’tRSH.R653E.2021-06-24T01_07_00.logs.tar (3.6 MB) seem to be random but I am unable to figure out the problem based on the logs and what I was reading in the forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the logs for reference. It happened before and I made a new sd card which seemed to fix some of the issues. I happened much more prior to the new SD card

Hello Eugenebrink,

Thank you for the logs and the explanation of the issue/what you’ve done before. From them, I can see that there are multiple instances of both hard resets and input overruns:

The first are caused by apparent loss of connection to the NTP time synchronization servers, which take care of keeping th Shake clock perfectly aligned with the general world time. The second instead are likely caused by possible loose connections, a non-MLC or SLC grade microSD card, or power supply issues.

Now, since the microSD card has already been changed by you, we can exclude that from the equation. Could you please do the following?

  • Check if anything has gotten loose, like the cables from the geophone to the blue Shake board, or the connection between the Shake and the Pi board below.
  • Check if the power supply is providing between 5.0 and 5.2V, and 2.5A. If you cannot, it could be worth changing it with another one that you know it’s reliable.
  • Check if you have a constant internet connection, maybe you can also turn-off/turn-on your modem/router again and see what happens.

After all these checks, you can turn off the Shake, wait for 5 minutes or so, turn it on again, and let’s wait for another 24-48h. After this time has passed, please download the logs again and send them to me, so that I can make a long comparison and see if there are similarities or differences.
